A Simple Dream

Couple wrapped in blanket sitting by campfire near camper van in mountains

The dream lies flat,

I open the world to my back.

Depression is manageable but the dream is accomplishable,

A dream on the road where I pick flowers and roam.

The world can see pictures but I see movement,

Where the flowers are for a woman,

Dancing for enchantment.

I crave the dream, a naturalist life,

Taking photos of birds and eating right.

We travel the world on the whim of the future,

Never hoping but just making dreams our supper.

We’ll cook our future in the home of our minds,

Carrying the past lightly this time.

The future looks bright,

A flame in the dark,

A bonfire to light a new spark.

We’ll collect our dreams and roll our eyes,

Sitting in a field of dandelions

Blowing with the time.

With time on our side, backs to the wind

How could we lose when its a simple whim.

The dream lasts for days, we’ll sleep as we please,

Taking naps and dosing off with ease.

We’ll climb mountains an dive,

Experiencing nature full with time.

Time is of the essence, I write for a dream,

That a simple life can be more than it means.

A van on the road, visiting farmers and carrying no hose.

The fire will be put out, just a fire in the woods

I wonder if I ever could.

I won’t chase the blaze but I’ll look for the passion,

riding bikes and carrying our hopes in fashion.

A dinner on a night, on the daily in fact,

watching sunset drift not flat.
