She was dancing and twirling I was losing like’ a whirlwind.
I spoke to her as if I knew no words then.
She sang on the stage, I couldn’t be so brave,
I knew not that I’d lost her to a man to which not even she craved.
He spoke and I woke, pouring drinks in their ears, words down their spines, even a little power to make the night Devine .
But my love came so easy,
Her hand had come so soft, I loved her as if morning dew brought a new day each time she crossed.
I wished upon a star but all I knew was to rush it too far,
soon I had horns,
And I realized that I’d chased my mind down to far.
Words became heavy, the mountains dimmed, I learned I was losing my mind because I didn’t want to win.
I found hope in her stage, listening to her voice.
But each night found her getting closer the man I didn’t honor and for whom no choice.
Then one night my mind awoke I found a door and struck it as it broke, my mind fell asleep and I never re-awoke, following dreams in day break chocking on cigarette break.
My mind lost, stuck in a delusional loss, where chains had bounds and my mountains looked more like towns.
People became distant and so did I, I turned myself into the doctor and he told me I was schizofrenic in my left eye.
I’d lost my love, I’d lost my peace, left behind booze out of spite for the man who poured powder down the nose of the woman who I loved to meet.
That day the gospel lost its meaning, I followed God and he led me towards less meaning. I’d lost the booze, put down the blunt even learned how to read but still lost my mind more than once.
I’d been dragged down a hole where the devil knew my name and I began to wonder who could have really killed Cain.
Did the bible speak the truth, was the apple really forbidden? Was the snake just feeding us and Mother Nature never forgiven?
So now I pray to a god that’s forsaken, Mother Nature isn’t the devil but the gospel awakens.
If it’s imperfection I choose, let God lose.
